A Year in Review

The year 2025 has been one of significant milestones, reflections, and continued commitment to engineering excellence and community support at Like Technologies.

Engineering & Business Milestones

This year saw notable progress in our core mission of extending the functional life of plant equipment, particularly within the demanding nuclear sector.

Relay Test Box Success: The newly updated Relay Test Box has been a major focus, with multiple clients highlighting its importance. It’s been praised by engineers and even ONR inspectors for setting a “best practice for the nuclear industry.” https://www.liketechnologies.co.uk/every-detail-matters/

Nuclear Sector Engagement: We completed our first repair order for Sellafield and expanded our reach within EDF. Obsolescence management solutions remain vital even with the discussion around new innovations like Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). Innovation is evolutionary, and legacy equipment will always need skilled support to reduce waste and maintain safety. https://www.liketechnologies.co.uk/time-to-reflect/

Looking Ahead to 20 Years: In September, we celebrated our 19th birthday, officially beginning our twentieth year. The average age of a UK company was 9 years old at the end of FYE 2025, with just 11.6% being over 20 years old. What should we do to celebrate? https://www.liketechnologies.co.uk/its-a-celebration/

Team Development & Partnerships

We focused on strengthening our team and collaborating with key partners in the electronics sector.

New Talent: We welcomed two new T-Level graduates to the team, both of whom achieved a distinction from Kendal College and are now pursuing a degree apprenticeship with us. Our engineers have also continued to upskill one another with Dan most recently delivering some specific electronics training for our new starters.

Academic Collaboration: Our collaboration with the School of Engineering at Lancaster University continued, including a funded project around Additive Manufacturing and our Managing Director, Kate, is also engaging in a programme aimed at the nuclear sector. We’ve delivered workshops at Kendal College and will be welcoming students from both Kendal College and Lancaster and Morecambe College in the New Year.

Industry Leadership: We continue to be an active member of the Electech Innovation Cluster, attending the Annual Conference in March, which marked the significant achievements of the cluster over the past four years. Would you like to join us in 2026?

Community & Charity

Our commitment to local causes remained a key part of the year.

CancerCare Fundraising: We made huge strides towards our £5000 fundraising goal for local charity, CancerCare. In April, our team member Andy ran the London Marathon and our charity quiz night in October, held at the Mazuma Stadium (home of Morecambe FC), raised an amazing £1810.

Team Building: To celebrate our anniversary and team achievements, we enjoyed a team trip to the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester, including the Power Up games room and a look at the historic Baby Computer.

The year 2025 has been a powerful blend of technological innovation, strategic growth and a strong sense of community. We look forward to continuing this momentum as we head into our milestone 20th year in 2026!
