Challenges and opportunities within ElecTech

We’re members of the ElecTech Innovation Cluster and attended their recent event held at Lancaster and Morecambe College on 20th October, 2022.

With a room full of people who actively work within or support the ElecTech sector, we were invited to participate in a lightning round. We used the opportunity to tell people a little more about what we do, and how we collaborate with other members but we also used the opportunity to open up a conversation about how we attract, train and mentor those coming into the industry, and pass on the skills and knowledge from those that are leaving it. Hosted by Lancaster and Morecambe College, we were in the right place to begin this conversation, which is ongoing.

As well as having a slot ourselves, we listened to talks from 11 other cluster members, received updates from various working groups and got to network with other attendees that had come from across Lancashire and Cumbria including representatives from Sellafield, the Department for International Trade and nearby universities.

Kate Houlden, Managing Director at Like Technologies, is currently leading the skills working group for the cluster and is keen to hear from businesses working within the sector.
