Skills Day at Kendal College

In support of Kendal College’s Skills Day, Like Technologies. alongside other Electech Innovation Cluster members, were invited to provide technical guidance to the T-Level engineering students as they built, tested, debugged, and tuned their line‑following robots. A custom track was created, and the teams competed head‑to‑head until a winner emerged.

As a local employer, we’re proud to have supported many students through work placements, including two who joined the business last year and are now progressing through their electronic and electrical degree apprenticeships at UCLAN. By delivering masterclasses and supporting learners throughout their studies, we’re helping to secure the future of the electronics industry in the Northwest. The more local businesses who get involved, the stronger and more resilient our talent pipeline will become.

Speaking about the day, Andy from Like Technologies said; “It was a real pleasure to work with the students again and reinforce the skills and behaviours they’ll need as they move into the next stage of their education or begin their first roles. The progress they’ve made since my soldering and assembly masterclass was clear, with every team approaching the challenge thoughtfully—even with the added difficulty of instructions written in Mandarin. Their resilience and perseverance shone through whenever things didn’t go quite to plan. A fantastic effort from everyone involved.”
