Out of Office

The senior leadership team at Like Technologies recently took some time away from Wenning House to reflect on what’s important to us as a business and how we demonstrate that in our day to day activity.

Sustainability is a key theme that runs through Like Technologies. We champion sustainability by extending the life of industrial electronic equipment through repair and refurbishment, effectively reducing electronic waste but we go further than that. Alongside our internal ‘green scheme’ initiatives, we strive to provide skilled, secure and well paid employment, engage with young people before they enter the workplace by welcoming them into our building and delivering workshops in their place of learning. We also support retraining and upskilling providers, add our voice to further and higher education curriculum plans and actively engage in the Electech Innovation Cluster

Towards the end of the first session, we looked at the UN Sustainability Development Goals and were pleased to see how our current activity slots into those 17 goals. Looking at these specific goals also helped us to think about which of them we may want to focus on moving forward.

This month we’ve also been working on site with clients and presented at the Engineering and Maintenance Managers Forum at Sellafield’s Albion Square offices in Whitehaven. Alongside time out of the office, we’ve taken on new repairs, sent completed repairs back to site and welcomed a group of students that have been identified as at risk of not continuing in education, employment or training (NEET) into Wenning House. The group were given a tour of the building, spoke to some of the team and in small groups were set a task to complete in our training room.
