It’s A Celebration
Like Technologies celebrated it’s 19th birthday in September, meaning we’re moving into our twentieth year of extending the functional life of plant equipment by providing unique electronics and software solutions, meeting regulations and minimising risk.
The workshop continues to be a hive of activity as we take on new projects, welcome new team members and send repairs back to site.
Each year we do something together as a team, last year it was paintballing and this year one of our engineers suggested a trip to the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester. We spent an hour in the Power Up games room before taking our time to look at the exhibits, including the Baby Computer. Did you know it was the first stored-program computer, built at the University of Manchester and successfully running its first program on June 21, 1948.
Speaking about facts, this month we’ve hosted a quiz night to raise money for local charity, CancerCare. At the Mazuma Stadium, home of Morecambe FC, on Thursday 9th October, we welcomed 10 teams and over 70 players, raising an amazing £1810. We’ve raised over £4000 of our £5000 goal!
CancerCare is a local cancer and bereavement charity that helps people discover their capacity for life when times are tough – with the professional help, emotional support and collective strength to face whatever’s next. The Morecambe Bay area has the highest rate of common cancers compared with the average rates for the whole North West or even England according to researchers at Lancaster University. The three types of cancer which are higher in the Morecambe Bay area are breast, bowel and urological – which includes prostate, kidney, bladder, testicular and penile cancers.
In 2024, CancerCare helped 1,975 people across Morecambe Bay, provided 16,670 hours of therapy and estimate it will cost £1,900,000 to continue run their four centres in Lancaster, Morecambe, Kendal and Barrow over the next 12 months. You can make a donation on JustGiving or if you’d like to discuss opportunities to fundraise for CancerCare, please get in touch with Claire Mason by emailing claire.mason@cancercare.org.uk.
