Introducing our Apprentices
We believe that the strength of the UK nuclear sector isn’t just in its infrastructure, but in the people we bring into the fold. That’s why we’ incredibly proud to welcome our two newest degree apprentices, Summer and Ollie, to the Like Technologies team.
Both Summer and Ollie join us from Kendal College, and they are already diving headfirst into the complex world of “obsolescence management.” They’ll be helping us find innovative ways to repair and maintain critical electronic systems for clients like EDF and Sellafield—ensuring our national infrastructure remains safe and operational even as components age.
We often hear about the “skills gap” in the nuclear workforce, but we see it as a “skills opportunity.” When we meet young professionals like Summer – who traded studying manufacturing for the challenge of electronics and Ollie – who has been taking apart machinery since he was a child – we see the exact blend of curiosity and grit we need. By partnering with the University of Lancashire, we aren’t just giving them a job; we’re giving them a degree-level education alongside real-world engineering experience.
The national Nuclear Skills Plan, which aims to grow the workforce by 50% by 2030, is a massive undertaking. But as a business, we’ve proven that SMEs can lead the charge. We’re thrilled to have Summer and Ollie on board as we continue to support the UK’s energy future. Please join us in giving them a warm welcome!
