Job purpose summary:
As a technician you will be expected to perform duties as indicated below in key responsibilities and accountabilities. This is not an exhaustive list and you may be requested to perform other duties not included in the list.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • High utilisation of fee earning capacity
  • Reporting to line managerExceptions
  • Task completion
  • Using standard business software such as Microsoft office and outlook
  • Accurate time recording (timesheets)
  • Communicating clearly and liaising verbally and in writing between customers, suppliers, visitors, enquirers and relevant staff.
  • Maintaining regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health & safety procedures.
  • Pursuing personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role.
  • Ensuring compliance with the company ‘Employee Handbook’
  • Preparing product documentation, writing reports
  • Working with colleagues to design new systems, circuits and devices or develop existing technology
  • Supervising technicians and craftspeople and other colleagues
  • Maintaining test records and usage of the repairs database
  • Detailed knowledge of Power station systems
  • Following health & safety requirements
  • Conducting good housekeeping practices
  • Accurate completion of time sheets
  • Generation of design, drawings and operation instructions
  • Manage one’s own work load
  • Recording, analysing and interpreting test data
  • Writing technical reports and specifications
  • Fault finding and report writing
  • Maintaining test records and usage of the repairs database
  • Ensuring safety regulations are met
  • Attending meetings with sub-contractors
  • Following health & safety requirements
  • Adhering to Anti-Static procedures
  • Identifying customer requirements
  • Working to customer specific standards
  • Liaising with clients and contractors
  • Attending meetings on site
  • Ensure Safe working Practices and plant safety are followed
  • Keeping up to date with developments in technologies and regulations
  • Planning and conducting work as specified by your departmental manager
  • Use initiative and drive to manage the work load
  • Reading design specifications and technical drawings
  • Recording, analysing and interpreting test data
  • Proposing modifications and retesting products
  • Following defined development processes
  • Repairing customer electronic equipment in accordance with specific repairs procedures
  • Testing customer electronic equipment in accordance with specific test procedures
  • Fault finding and report writing
  • Assembly and test
  • Booking in and maintaining the Repairs Database
